The E3 Digital Sessions in Linz - Event Review

BLOG

Three to four times a year, the E3 International Agency Network hosts the E3 Bootcamps, a series ofevents aimed at educating the staff of member agencies on various topics. On March 23and 24, the first bootcamp in 2023 was held under the title "Digital Sessions" at SPSMARKETING in Linz.

As the host of the Digital Sessions, we at SPS MARKETING had the task of putting together an event that gave participants the opportunity to learn about the latest trends and strategies in digital marketing. The newly acquired knowledge was directly applied and deepened in a workshop, after which challenges and problems were discussed together in an open discussion.

The kick-off event at SPS MARKETING

The kick-off of the two-day event took place on Wednesday evening at SPS MARKETING's headquarters in Jaxstraße. The participants had the opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere over home-brewed beer and snacks. Guests came not only from Germany, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Switzerland, but even from Israel and China.

We are particularly proud that we were able to bring so many marketers from very different countries to Linz with our diverse program.

Day 1 - A wealth of digital marketing theory

The first official day of the Bootcamp started at 9 a.m. on Thursday in the Forum of the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten in the Promenaden Galerie in downtown Linz. Those who hadn't learned enough about the others at the come together the night before were able to go further in depth here with the fun facts as ice breakers and find out more about their curious hobbies, special talents or travel habits.

Afterwards, Thomas Catulli, digital marketing expert and CEO of SPS MARKETING, held the first presentation of the day. In terms of content, he dealt with the development of digital strategies and explained which questions we go through with our clients before we implement digital campaigns for them. If you want to know what our digital workshops at SPS MARKETING consist of, you can already look forward to his detailed blog article on the presentation.

Renée Jiang from Brandigo/China

A special highlight of the first day was the presentation directly afterwards by Renée Jiang from Shanghai. Renee from the agency Brandigo/China gave us exciting insights into the digital media world of China and presented the different communication channels and the corresponding B2B marketing strategies. It was a very exciting presentation, especially considering the fact that cultural, linguistic and economic differences are a major hurdle for Western companies to successfully implement marketing campaigns in China. We are very happy to have Brandigo as a strong partner for our customers in this market.

After lunch, the participants worked in groups on the concrete planning of campaign concepts. For this, there was a short briefing on real cases and only 30 minutes time before the four groups had to present their customer journeys, campaign strategies and schedules including budget proposals. Admittedly, the situation was not quite close to reality, but it showed what we know anyway: We marketers, no matter what nation, can be really productive even under great pressure!

Guided interactive tour of the Ars Electronica Center in Linz

After everyone's heads were spinning after this workshop, the walk to the next item on the program was a welcome change. For the organizers from our team, a guided tour of the Ars Electronica Center was a must right at the start of their preparations for the Digital Sessions. The Museum of the Future with its exhibitions on artificial intelligence, neuro-bionics, autonomous systems and robotics surprised visitors with impressive technologies - and the journey into virtual worlds in unbelievable sharpness of detail was completely thrilling during the visit to the famous Deep Space. The first part of the Digital Sessions was rounded off with a joint dinner featuring home-style Austrian cuisine.

Day 2 - All about the technical setup

While the first day focused on theoretical topics such as strategies and concepts, the second day was much more technical.

Vince Devos from BBC

"Campaigns without tracking are like ships without a compass."

An important topic that aligned with the data we can use to analyze and optimize our campaigns! This was followed by presentations from SPS MARKETING's digital team: digital managers Amy McGregor, Clarissa Eibl and Viktoriia Kukla gave an insightful overview of their digital marketing tools and their efficiency.

Viktoriia pounced on numbers and data in her presentation. She explained which numbers are provided at which point in time in reporting. To this end, she also presented the interactive dashboards that we at SPS MARKETING develop for our clients, as well as AI technologies that we use for data presentation.

After the two very technical presentations, Clarissa Eibl presented the Asana Board that our digital team uses to organize campaigns. Afterwards, there was a very lively discussion about the pros and cons of different project management tools.

The final presentation of the Digital Sessions on Friday afternoon was given by Amy McGregor. She had come up with something very special for it: Her presentation on annual planning and budget development was also designed as a drinking game. The idea was very well received and formed a relaxed conclusion to an intensive bootcamp.
